New Toyota Fortuner is Coming

If you want to know more about the new Fortuner, you've come to the right place. Today, we're going to tell you about the new generation Fortuner, with exclusive details you won't find elsewhere. So, watch this video till the end.

This year, the Fortuner is set to receive an upgrade, boosting its power. In 2020-21, the Fortuner was upgraded to become the most powerful in its category, producing 500Nm of torque. The Legender variant was also available at that time. This year, both the Fortuner and Legender will get an upgrade, producing 500-550Nm of torque, maintaining their status as the most powerful engines in their category. Additionally, their power will increase by 20-25bhp.

Toyota will introduce a mild hybrid in the current Fortuner. Unlike the Toyota Hycross mild hybrid, this is a basic mild hybrid system, similar to those seen in Maruti cars like the Ertiga, Swift, and Baleno. This start-stop system will improve fuel efficiency by 1-1.5 km per liter and help reduce overall emissions.

The new Fortuner will feature a 9-inch screen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. A tire pressure monitoring system will also be introduced. Design elements in both the Fortuner and Legender upgrades will remain unchanged, and we expect the GR Sport to return with this new model. The pricing is likely to increase by Rs 1-1.5 lakhs.

Some regular features like ventilated seats and roof-mounted AC will continue, and we expect JBL speakers to return as well. The new generation Fortuner faces new challenges. Introduced in India in 2017, it shared its platform with the Hilux and Innova Cresta. However, Toyota's focus has shifted to the Hycross, which is built on a different platform, causing a delay in the Fortuner's launch.

Toyota plans to localize the new Fortuner, incorporating more features such as a panoramic sunroof, ventilated seats, and ADAS, while maintaining ladder-on-frame and 4x4 technology. The suspension and steering will be improved for a smoother ride.

The Fortuner will be available in petrol and diesel variants, with the 2.7-liter petrol and 2.8-liter turbo diesel engines continuing. Both 4x2 and 4x4 options will be offered. The third generation Fortuner will likely follow the same pattern of offering different engine options without distinct variants.

When the first generation Fortuner was launched in India in 2010, it was priced around 20-22 lakh rupees. Today, its price ranges between 55-60 lakh rupees, and it may increase further in the next generation.

Regarding a possible Maruti variant, it seems unlikely as both brands protect certain products, like the Jimny and Swift for Maruti and the Fortuner for Toyota.

The new generation Fortuner is expected to launch in Thailand by the end of this year or early next year, with an India launch likely in late 2025, though it could be sooner. In 2024, don't expect the new generation Fortuner to arrive. Its price may increase by 5-7 lakh rupees, potentially reaching 60-65 lakh rupees.

This is our quick synopsis of the new generation Fortuner. We'll share more details as soon as we have them.
