Here are seven free websites that I have personally used over the past years and have been more than satisfied with what they offer in video clips and downloadable HD quality video clips as well as editing software such as Photoshop/Premier templates for both videos and photos.
Pexels provides media for online download, maintaining a library that contains over 3.2 million photos and videos, growing each month by roughly 200,000 files. The content is uploaded by the users and reviewed manually. Using and downloading the media is free, and the website generates income through advertisements for paid content databases. There is also a donation option for users, and while the attribution of the content creator is not required, it is appreciated. Through the merger with Canva, Pexels' database is available in the Canva application.
2. Shutterstock
This is a website for all your stock photo needs and it’s probably the most popular on the list. They offer both paid services as well as free content depending on what you are looking for. If you have a small budget, I recommend checking out their 10-day trial, which includes 200MB of access to their entire library!
3. Videvo
This has a video search platform that can be used to find and download free stock footage. It allows users to search for footage by keyword, category, license, and length. Users can also filter their searches by their desired duration for the video.
This one is a safe bet for photographers but also includes video footage as well. It has a wide variety of free stock footage and you can search by category or person. The downside to this website is that the quality can vary greatly between clips, sometimes they are high quality while other times they are lower in resolution, and sometimes you might have to download multiple clips just to find the right one for your project. And if there is something specific that you are looking for.
